About Us...

The Hastings Paranormal Team was started by 5 friends and neighbors who all shared experiences with the paranormal.

A look back at 2007

If any of us had dreamt when HPT was first conceived that we would have enjoy the success and notoriety that we experienced in 2007, I don't think we would have believed it possible. We again experienced the loss of some good members, but were very fortunate to gain some excellent replacements.

Through continued hard work and dedication to the team, two members distinguished themselves through both their enthusiasm and dedication. Those members were Erin and Juli. Both have worked extensively to promote the organization, train new members, and become more involved in personnel and administrative matters. Judy continues to be a cornerstone of the organization. She has researched and obtained new equipment for the team, continued to be heavily involved with operational matters, and continues to be a proven leader within the team. Also, all three of these members have stepped forward to take a greater leadership and directional role within the organization. It is because of their dedication and commitment that HPT is able to enjoy the success they had in 2007.

The addition of new members, Jessica, Josh and Kevin added new insights and perspectives to the team also. Both Jessica and Josh have some "sensitive" abilities and continue to hone their skills while on investigations. Kevin, being intrigued by the paranormal is also skeptical and looks for more ways to disprove then except an incident or occurrence. He brings a good balance to the HPT that challenges us to perform more investigating into all possible causes of an incident. Rich continues to be another balancing factor for the team. His photographic interests, curious skepticism, and desire to become more involved in the technical aspect bring new skill set and outlook to HPT. Rich is also one of our more tenured investigators. Our newest member Andrea recently had the opportunity to train during a residential investigation. She has some sensitive abilities and also adds many years of personal paranormal experiences.

HPT also had a couple brushes with fame this past year. Through some promotional tours by Erin and Juli, HPT was contacted by Frederick Melo with the St Paul Pioneer Press who featured HPT in an article that was published in October. While the article was about HPT, investigations at the Mississippi Belle Restaurant and mention of other locations in Hastings was also made. Needless to say we were all surprised to find that it was picked up by the AP news wire and ended up all over the internet and world. (Note: it was during this time that Judy, Juli and Erin took great delight in discussing how stressed Tim was during all of this) Along with this article, Erin and Juli also were interviewed on KSTP AM 1500.

We were also fortunate to build new relationships with other teams and strengthen those already established. Larry with S.C.I.P.P., Mike and Hector with W.I.M.P.S. continue to be good friends and associates with HPT. Through some networking by Erin, Jacqui with IPRA and her have had ongoing communications which has evolved into the two teams collaborating on future investigations.

Tim has also been doing a little networking. He has had an ongoing communication with Josue in Costa Rica. Josue contacted Tim this past year inquiring about information on starting a group in his home country. At this time, Josue has been assembling a team and laying the groundwork for his organization. We look forward to watching his team evolve and help out where we can.

As we begin 2008, much like the field we work in, there are many unknowns ahead for us. HPT will continue to build on the firm foundation that our organization currently enjoys. In the coming weeks and months, we hope to be able to meet others in the field and form new friendships. We will continue to provide our customers the most professional and objective investigations and evidence we can, and post our results for our visitors to draw their own conclusions.

Thank you...

Tim

Mission Statement...

It is the goal of the Hastings Paranormal Team to…

Objectively investigate and document claims of paranormal activity, gather any and all obtainable evidence of paranormal activity utilizing audio devices, video equipment, and our own cognitive senses.

Thoroughly compile and analyze all collected evidence, and present it to our clients in an unbiased manner.

To respectfully listen to all stories and incidents relayed to us by our clients, ask questions to clarify facts, and not trivialize or prejudge any claims of activity prior to beginning any investigation.

We vow to maintain our client's anonymity, and only disseminate data and information in accordance to the client's wishes.

Disseminate all authorized information and data for evaluation by both skeptics and others in the field of paranormal research.

Our Code of Conduct...

1. We will not enter any building or area alone, nor will we abandon any other team member and allow them to remain alone. We will always be in the company of at least one other HPT member. If during the course of an investigation, any team member has cause to leave, the other team member will also leave, without hesitation and escort them out of the area or residence.

2. We will not harass or harm any members or person(s) at any investigation.

3. Neither violence or theft are NOT tolerated in HPT. Engaging in either will be cause for immediate termination from HPT. Hastings Paranormal Team will also cooperate in any investigation due to such an act. Any individual that engages in either will be solely and wholly responsible for any legal proceedings that they may incur.

4. HPT holds no responsibility towards members that may be injured during the course of an investigation.

5. We will act professional during an investigation. And if an entity is spotted or someone is touched by an entity, we will not act in a manner typical to most. We will not act is such a manner as to exhibit unprofessional behavior in any way. We will wait until the activity ceases, attempt to either find or contact another Team member, record the activity as best we can. Any person(s) caught acting unprofessional will be removed from the investigation. In the event we need to remove ourselves from the area, to the best of our ability we will try to relay the occurrence to another team member for documentation.

6. We will not swear or use a vulgar language while ANY Property owner is present. When in the presents of a property owner or anyone else involved in an investigation, we will listen to the stories and not wander away from someone speaking to me. We will respond accordingly and not in a demeaning manner,

7. Any personal equipment that is brought on an investigation will be my own responsibility. In the event it is an audio or video recording device, any picture(s) or audio recordings will be given to HPT and all rights given to them. No cell phone cameras are allowed! If I choose to carry a cell phone during the course of an investigation, it will be turned off prior to me beginning the active investigation. HPT will make every attempt to insure the proper equipment is supplied prior to beginning an investigation.

8. We will only wear approved attire to any investigation to include identification provided by HPT, and any other identification required by local enforcement agencies.

9. Only active members in good standing of HPT will be allowed on investigations unless prior approval is obtained before beginning the investigation.

10. All evidence such as: video/EVP/pictures on any investigation will remain confidential until posted on our Web-site. Any findings will only be discussed between HTP members until the investigation is closed. No discussion of any case will be allowed outside of the group especially if it may compromise the anonymity of a client.

11. We will be respectful of other team member’s beliefs and observations. We will not criticize or be disrespectful of another team member especially during the course of an investigation.

12. We will not trespass on any property. All proper permissions from land or property owners, City or County Law Enforcement, Conservation and Historical agencies, and written forms will be secured prior to an investigation.

13. Before posting any information about an investigation on our web site, we will first obtain the permission of the client and will abide by their wishes for disclosure.

14. We will not provide a label of “Haunted” until all evidence is reviewed by HPT. In the event substantial activity is found/documented, it may be necessary for HPT to enlist the assistance of another reputable paranormal organization for verification of the evidence. All confidentiality will be maintained to include anonymity of the owner is they so desire.

15. Since we are an investigative team, we will not attempt nor claim to be able to rid an area of any possible entity or presence. In the event a property owner wishes the property "cleansed", HPT will only facilitate the location and/or contact of someone capable and qualified to perform such an act.

16. No team member will be allowed to participate on any investigation while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Any member that is found to be impaired while on an investigation will be terminated from the team immediately. Also, we reserve the right not to investigate any location the we have reasonable suspicion to believe the clients are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

New Team Members...

All new prospective team members will undergo an interview process with the Founder and possibly other team members. A background check may also be required. Once accepted, the new member will begin training in the field with other team members to become acquainted with the equipment and the investigation process. The length of the training process will be dictated through input by the new member and those they are training with. Once the new member achieves a comfort level with the equipment and investigation process, they will become full members in good standing.

HPT Organizational Structure...

All team members, in addition to being paranormal investigators, may also have other duties to perform within the team. These could include, interviews, historical research, equipment setup/takedown, documentation, evidence review, answering correspondence, etc. We encourage all members to get as involved in each of these areas as much as they feel comfortable with. If there is a particular area which someone enjoys and excels in, we want to know about it.

Also, if someone has prior paranormal experience, either personal or investigative, we welcome this as an additional resource for the rest of the team.

We feel the paranormal field is about beliefs, perceptions, experiences, a willingness to learn, and acceptance.

At this time, the following persons in HPT are designated as primary's in the following areas...

Tim - Founder, Web Design, Administrative, Lead Investigator

Judy - Co-founder, Sensitive, Administrative Manager, Head Documentation Author and Developer, Investigator

Rich - Investigator, photography, Tech Support and Setup

Juli - Personnel, Investigator, Sensitive, Administration

Erin - Historic Research, Investigator, Sensitive, Administration

Josh - Investigator, Sensitive, Technical Support and Setup

Jessica - Investigator (Part Time), Sensitive

Kevin - Investigator (Part Time)

Andrea - Investigator, Sensitive (Part Time)

Collaborative Investigations....

We welcome any and all opportunities to work with other Paranormal Groups. We vow to respect their opinions and viewpoints. When on any collaborative investigations, we will be respectful of the other teams methods even if they differ greatly from our own. We want to look on these opportunities as both a learning, and hopefully a teaching venture.

Any chance to learn from others and expand our knowledge in this field is greatly appreciated. We will also do all we can to assist others new to this field, and those organizing their own Paranormal Groups.

Case Referrals...

In the event an investigation turns out to be more then we expected, we will openly admit to the client that more experienced help may be needed. We will first contact another group, explain the circumstances, and if accepted by the other group, turn over all notes and evidence to that group to more easily facilitate their appropriation of the investigation. If requested, we will also accompany them on their initial investigation, and on any other they deem necessary.

In the event that we find that a potential case may be closer to another Paranormal Groups location, we will contact that group and present what information we have for their review. We will not just inform a client that there may be another group closer and have them contact the group. This would be both unprofessional to both the client and others in the field.
